For Christmas I got a pair of these..... (cramp-ons) and an ice axe. I also got a map of Mt. Hood and an "invitation" to hike up to the Palmer Glacier.
I was a bit apprehensive, but Kevin reassured me it was safe. I don't generally look at mountains and wish I could stand on top....at least not snowy mountains....but since loving my man means embracing adventure, I was game.
I cannot believe how clear it was. It is rare to see no cloud cover. We could not have had better weather for this hike.
This is a view of the mountain from the parking lot. We didn't get anywhere near the summit, but we did get parallel to Illumination Point (the lone peak on the far left). We went much higher than we planned.
That's illumination point to the left...
This is looking up at the summit. We could see people coming down. It was a beautiful day to summit, but you have to get a pretty early start.
Here is a picture of us at the highest point we climbed to. It was HARD work - going up and down - but the view was amazing.
those pictures are awesome- I can't believe how beautiful it looks- everything the sky, snow, mountain. Hope you had fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was really hard work, so I'm not sure "fun" is the right word. It was rewarding, and I'm glad we went. It was a perfect day to be up there. The sun was actually hot at times.
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing! You are one talented woman :-).
