We had such a nice weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Hall. On Friday Kevin and I took off for a night away in Hood River. We walked around the town, sampled wine and even took in a movie. We stayed in the historic Hood River Hotel - very quaint and, well, historic.
On Sunday we headed to central Oregon to spend some time in the Bend area. We walked around Smith Rocks and enjoyed some nice (not rainy) weather. Then we checked out Boyd Cave - a cave formed by lava flow about 10,00 years ago. You could walk through about .2 mile, but some of us got a little nervous when we passed obvious signs of cave in.

We drove farther south to stay in a cabin at La Pine State Park. We weren't prepared for the higher elevation and snow, but it was fun. The cabin had heat and the girls attempted to eat breakfast outside.

Bend has a ton of cool shops, but we decided to spend our time outside, soaking up the sun. We did hit one adventure/gear shop and the girls liked this ski chair. Then we headed to Tumalo State Park to walk the river.
It was a little windy (as is evidenced by Kayleigh's hair).

Then we drove north (towards Portland) looking for a good picnic lunch spot. We decided to check out another state park - The Cove Palisades. We were driving through flat, farming terrain, wondering what kind of park this could be. Then the land opened up and there was a large canyon and lake - it was amazing. The pictures don't really do it justice, but the top of the ridge is where we were driving.
Beautiful pics!!! Looks like it was a great weekend!!

Well, we're home now and are filled with many wonderful, beautiful, happy memories of our great visit to the amazing Foley family! When you visit them, they always have many awesome things planned to do. As you can see from the photos, they live in a gorgeous place, but the BEST thing about going to Portland is spending time with our precious girls, Sydney & Kayleigh. Thank you guys for a fantastic 6 days!
