Yale Lake

Today's adventure was almost a complete bust. After driving 1 1/2 hours towards Mt. St. Helens, with only 4 miles left to go to the trailhead, we turned around because the road suddenly became very snowy and icy. Ug.

Then we pulled off at a stream and thought we would explore a bit and eat our lunch - Syd fell in and got one side of her (leg and foot) soaked with icy cold water. Double Ug. (Ug Ug)

We had her rain pants and I had an extra pair of socks so we got her relatively dry and warm and set off to Yale Lake. The sun was shining, the view was beautiful and we had our picnic. The little bit of white you see peeking out the top is Mt. St. Helens.

Then we set off to explore a bit and came upon the land of the tree stumps.

This one was big enough to crawl under.

  1. Wow!!! Those tree stumps are so interesting and huge. Did the area have a flood or fire?

  2. Sounds like your adventure had a happy ending! Poor Syd, nothing worse than cold, icy feet! Another beautiful area - cool tree stumps.
