Most of my gardening over the past 15 years has had to do with growing flowers. It's not that I haven't tried to grow vegetables, I just haven't been very successful. Not willing to give up completely, I had Kevin build me a couple raised beds this year.

I know...pretty impressive! Well, I'm quite impressed. There is something so satisfying about successfully growing your own food. I really can't get over how much everything has grown. Both basil plants died because it was too cold, so I need to replace those, but everything else is flourishing....even the flowers we planted from seed. I can't wait until they bloom!
cilantro anyone?
I also relocated quite a few of the sunflowers, lining them along the fence.
Your garden looks wonderful! You must have just the right growing conditions, not to mention all the tender loving care you've given them. Great job, Jill!
ReplyDeleteI love your garden! I just showed pics to David and he was impressed too! I really need to do a post about ours. Yours is so pretty. Ours looks a little ghetto. (Yep, I said that.) We had to get creative with our potatoes because they really took over their corner of the bed. I think you posted before about having lettuce - I wonder if it's too late to plant some.
ReplyDeleteAnd we also had to relocate some plants. Chan thought it would be fun to grow pumpkin (against my recommendation) and it took over so it had to go.
WOW It is very impressive!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you picked the best place in your yard. Good Job!!!!! Hope I can taste some of your goodies when I come!!!!
hugs and good JOB!!!
who is my green thumb....not even close to being impressive as yours! nice work foley family!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Jill! I too planted my first garden this year and it doesn't quite look like yours yet! Do you weed everyday b/c it looks great- no weeds! Even in our raised bed I have some weeds growing and i can't figure out yet which is the plant and which is the weed!!!!
ReplyDeleteGin....I don't think it's too late for lettuce. It grows pretty quickly. I think mine will be done soon and I hope to plant another round of it. I'v had my share of ghetto looking gardens, it's about time I have one that looks like this! I read "Square Foot Gardening" and mostly followed its principles. I'm very happy with the results!
ReplyDeleteKelly....I do go out daily and pull out whatever weeds I see. The dirt is from our huge delivery earlier this year and it's not very weedy!
