Sydney's Butterfly

Ever since we spotted the yellow swallowtail butterfly near our garden last week, Sydney has been on a mission to catch one. Today we saw one resting on a plant in the swamp next to us.

I helped her over the fence and she snuck up behind it with her net.

Mission accomplished....

Setting it free....

This brings back so many memories of my own childhood - my brother was a butterfly fanatic and caught hundreds. I found myself saying things to Sydney (about handling this guy) that Aaron used to say to me.

  4. Wow - what a BIG swallowtail! Would have loved a video of Sydney catching it! She handled it so gently - I'm sure it appreciated being set free.
