Anniversary Getaway

Although our 15th anniversary was a couple weeks ago, we just had a chance to celebrate this past weekend. After spending 5 days in Illinois, Sydney, Kayleigh and I brought Grandma Redman back with us. We needed a babysitter so Kevin and I could spend some time in our favorite town ~ Hood River.

We left on Saturday morning and arrived by 11 am. Our hotel room wasn't ready, so we hopped on our bikes and set off to one of the many local vineyards and wineries. I had never actually done the wine tasting at Cathedral Ridge, so this was a first for me.

Then we rode into town, ate lunch, visited another winery for more wine tasting....

Then we rode back to hotel, got in our car and drove out into the country to visit another winery...

Mt. Hood Winery has fantastic views of Mt. Hood (below) and Mt. Adams (next picture)

It was so fun to get away and spend time together....knowing our kids were having a blast with Grandma back at home.

Sunday morning we hopped back on our bikes and rode into town for breakfast. We aren't bikers, but it was fun to ride. We stayed at a beautiful hotel....Columbia Cliffs.....that overlooked the Columbia River. Located right next to the historic Columubia Gorge Hotel, it's a beautiful and popular place for weddings. The gardens and grounds were beautiful.

We drove across the river to Washington and this is the view of Hood River with Mt. Hood in the background.

In this picture, if you look to right (just above the mirror) you can see the hotel at the top of the cliffs.

On our way home we stopped in Cascade Locks for a run. We've seen a bike/walking path from the interstate and always wondered where it went.

Thanks, mom, for watching the girls!!!

  1. What a beautiful anniversary getaway! I remember Cathedral Ridge Winery - that's the one we went to with Kevin while you were at the Compassion Retreat. It had gorgeous views of the valley behind the winery.

  4. Glad you had a chance to have an Anniversary trip and boy, what a beautiful place you picked! Of course, everything is beautiful out there. Looks like you had an awesome time! But probably not as much fun as Grandma Red did!
