A Golden Birthday

Another year...another birthday

As Sydney came down stairs this morning, I played Happy Birthday on my violin.
Then she excitedly looked around at all the decorations.

Usually I ask what the girls want for their birthday meals, but this year I just surprised Sydney. Breakfast was Golden Grahams and lunch was Kraft mac and cheese. Not the healthiest options, but Golden Grahams was a must because of the name and Kraft mac and cheese is her favorite and I rarely let her have it. She was pleasantly surprised.

We did a little bit of school in the morning, but mostly we talked to grandparents on the phone, made the cake and practiced violin.

After lunch we got into the car and I handed Sydney two envelopes - each with a surprise destination inside. First we went to the zoo! The girls BEG me to go to the zoo and this year we have a family membership (thanks Grandma and Grandpa Hall). Although it was pretty rainy and so much of the zoo is outdoors, we still had a great time. And we saw less than 20 other people.

Kayleigh is whistling to the birds in the African aviary.

After the zoo and frozen yogurt place, we headed home. Sydney chose Chinese food for her birthday dinner and we put the finishing touches on the cake.

Syd got this very cool dragon puppet from Grandma and Grandpa Redman and she hasn't let go of it since she opened it. Just look at the pics below and you'll see it's in every one.

It was a fun day celebrating a great girl!
We ended it with a number 9 sparkler....
