After 4 days of vacation and 1 day of work, we decided we needed another outdoor adventure! I know... we are crazy like that...but the sun was shining and the trails were calling our names.
We set off on a hike in Washington... the Whedon Wagon Trail. This was a hike we'd not yet done, so it was new to us.
Since moving to Oregon 4 years ago, I've become more appreciative of trees and the different varieties. This one caught my attention enough to stop and photograph it.
I also love to take shots of sun bursting through the trees.
Driving to this trail, we had great views of Mt. Adams so we were sure that after every next bend we would see Mt. Adams. But it never happened... not even once. But we did have some distant views of Mt. Hood.
This is when I like instagram. Taking photos directly in the sun turns out better with my iphone than with my camera. And then when you add a filter, you get something glorious like this....
So it might seem like I take more pictures of Kayleigh than I do of Sydney. There are two reasons for that... first, Kayleigh is more compliant and cooperative than Sydney when it comes to photographs and secondly, I end up hiking with Kayleigh and Kevin ends up hiking with Sydney - often ahead of us!
Towards the end of the trail we were hiking through some private property and we spotted Big Foot!
After our hike we headed back into Oregon to spend some time in Hood River - a favorite city of ours. As we crossed the bridge, this was our view down the Columbia River. Hard to believe someone was sailing in January!
We were leaving Hood River right before sunset and caught some great views of Mt. Adams across the river in Washington...the sun shedding pink light on the mountain.
And we were treated to a gorgeous sunset on the way home.....
So this is the same shot above, only filtered through instagram.
Beautiful photos
