School and Such

School is underway and we are finding our groove. This year for history we are going back to the beginning and doing ancient history. For geography, we are working our way through Africa. In Spanish we are learning how to say "I like ice cream" and if I turn my back for a second the girls might actually be eating ice cream when I return.

The girls are taking a STEM science class at the local Christian school, as well as Language Arts. Currently they are reading the play Hamlet and learning all about Shakespeare.

At home we are also reading poems by Emily Dickinson, listening to music by Felix Mendelssohn and reading a LOT of books together.

Last week a little bird ran right into our window while we were eating. We saw it fall and not fly away, so we went out to see if we could help it. Both girls were able to hold it for a little bit before it flew away.

And then yesterday, a junco was trapped in our greenhouse. Kayleigh caught it and took it outside. It's kind of amazing that she got to hold two birds in one week!

The girls are taking art lessons from a local friend....last week they learned how to draw tessellations. I think they both turned out pretty well.
