We had 4 St. Patrick's Day gigs on our calendar this year...sadly we only got through 2 of them before life outside our homes was canceled. I was already embracing the social distancing guidelines over the weekend, but we decided to play at the events anyway. Honestly, it was so fun to just play music and watch people enjoy themselves - to get away from the noise and confusion of COVID-19. Plus...as musicians we were stuck in the corner and rarely does anyone get within 6 feet of us while we play. That would just be awkward under any circumstance. We carried in our gear, played our instruments and stood next to each other...not much risk.
I managed to talk Sydney into using my violin and playing one tune...it was fun to see her up there, and she got a huge amount of applause which brought a big smile to her face.
It's always fun to play for friends...we had several friends from church and our neighbors who came out to celebrate with us.
