Vermont

After Saranac Lake, our girls headed west to Buffalo and Kevin and I headed east to Vermont for a few days. It was so fun to drive around and reminisce. I have no idea how many times we said, "remember.....?" The fall foliage was stunning!

we walked Church Street several times...

it was within walking distance of our hotel which made it very easy to access

we walked all around the campus of UVM

We drove by our first house...Kirby Lane.
The greenhouse that was attached to the left side of the house has been turned into just another room

Then we drove out to our second house...this is the driveway and the hill
(of which we had 13 acres when we owned this property)

the house on Daniel Lane
For some reason they repainted the front, but not the side.

We walked part of Colchester Point....
a favorite place that goes out into Mallets Bay and Lake Champlain

We also walked the waterfront in Burlington

We also drove through little towns to see churches we used to find charming

We both forgot how much driving we used to do. There are quite a few towns all nestled together, but getting from place to place requires a lot of driving. We lived in Williston (and later Richmond. We went to church and work in Burlington. Our favorite pizza place was in Winooski. I taught violin in South Burlington. Our pediatrician was in Essex Junction. I had teacher meetings in Hinesburg. Our sailboat was in Colchester. So during our three days, we did a lot of driving to revisit and remember our previous life. Thankfully it gave us plenty of time to enjoy the fall foliage.

We also drove to Stowe one day. We used to love to go to Stowe - especially when people visited. We would stop at Ben and Jerry's tasting room (now closed due to COVID), then stop at Cabot cheese tasting room (also closed), then Cold Hollow cider mill (open!) and then go on to the quaint, picturesque town of Stowe.
