Wrapping Up Christmas

We sure had an interesting week leading up to Christmas! We woke up on Monday morning and learned that a car accident had caused a natural gas outage for us and 5,000 other customers in the area. This meant no heat, no hot water and no oven/stove. The first day was ok. The second day we borrowed some space heaters from a friend who was not affected by the outage, and took hot showers at another friend's house. The third day we cashed in on the free hotel room offer from the Natural Gas company so we could take another hot shower. (The hotel room was in town 20 miles east of us). The fourth day we got 2 free space heaters and a blanket from the Gas company, and returned to our hotel room for another shower. The fifth day was Christmas and by noon our gas was restored...just when the snow started falling.

a snowy walk on Christmas day....

Kevin surprised me with two gorgeous gifts this year. A couple months ago he finished our new dining room table. The old dining room table was from Vermont and was a gift from my Grandma. Even though it was old and we wanted to replace it, it still held sentimental value to us. He made it smaller, re-sanded and re-varnished it and we'll use it outside when the weather is nice. He had some wood from it left over and wanted to make something special for me. This is what he came up with...

a beautiful side table with violin f-holes carved out of the top.

Using the same stencil, he also made this gorgeous music stand for me. I absolutely love having these gorgeous, handmade items all around our home.

Here are a couple more videos of violin carols for your enjoyment....

This first one starts out with a tune I wrote several years ago, then leads into Silent Night.

Kayleigh and I had fun playing with the Acapella app for this one...Carol of the Bells.
