Psalm 8

O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory
above the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants
you have ordained praise
because of your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.

You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
you put everything under his feet"
all flocks and herds,
and the beasts of the field,
the birds of the air,
and the fish of the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth.

Good Friday

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. - 1Peter 1:24

**I want to collect Bible verses today, through the comments, that talk about Christ's sacrifice...would you contribute? On Sunday, we will collect verses about the resurrection!

Morning Scripture Reading

This morning my daily reading included this from Numbers 14:26-29...

Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, "How long must I put up with this wicked community and its complaints about me? Yes, I have heard the complaints the Israelites are making against me. Now tell them this: "As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very things I heard you say. You will all drop dead in this wilderness! Because you complained against me, every one of you who is twenty years old or older and was included in the registrations will die."

What a great illustration and reminder of what God thinks of our complaining and grumbling.

Bible Read through Challenge

I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit that I've never read the entire Bible. Maybe I have without knowing it, but in all my previous attempts to read through the Bible, I have stopped before finishing.

I'm excited to try again in 2010 and I'm inviting you to join me.

I've chosen the NLT Chronological Bible...

I've done several Bible studies this past year, and I'm excited to read some of these stories again within the context they were written.

I'm not worried about reading a certain amount every day...I will read ahead when I have time and take breaks when I need to. If you like accountability and want to join me in this challenge, leave me a comment.

I'm very excited about what God is going to teach me through this. I'm also very excited to read a completely new translation (new to me, anyway!).

Bible Memory

I got this idea from Impress Your Kids...

You can use any verse. I used James 1:22 because that's what she used and it fits with everything I am learning right now!

"Do not merely listen to the word....do what it says." - James 1:22

I made two matching sets of the verse...writing each word on a different colored piece of paper. I then laid out one set of words on a table.

The the girls took turns matching words from the other set...

And when it was all done, we hung up the verse in a prominent location so we will all see it on a regular basis!
