Fancy Nancy Family Night

Tonight we had a "fancy Nancy" dinner. Kayleigh, our resident fancy expert, helped pick out fancy clothes for us to wear. We also set the table with a tablecloth, fancy napkins and used wine glasses to drink our "fancy" drink (7-up). For dessert the girls made a chocolate cake with lots of fancy sprinkles (and Syd thought putting plastic coral on top was also fancy).

Even Kevin humored us by putting on the suit and tie the girls picked out for him!

We haven't done family night for a long time....for our past family nights, click on the label "family night".

Today was a day of....

BAKING MUFFINS...

My friend, Britt, inspired me to make these blueberry muffins. She gives a nice, step-by-step, tutorial of how to make them...complete with pictures! I just give you pics of my helpers making a mess!

Although I usually find their help annoying, it's fun to see their curiosity as they help. They like to "touch" each ingredient to see how it feels (don't worry...their hands are relatively clean!)

CRAZY HAIR...

Both girls were sporting several pig tails in random places!

POPSICLES...green and blue!

ANOTHER PICNIC...

Last night's picnic was so perfect, we decided to do another one. This time we went to a smaller lake called Teal Lake.

ACCIDENTS...

3 to be exact.

I woke up thinking we had conquered and succeeded at potty training! Maybe my over-confidence was my downfall.

But really...Kayleigh woke me up asking to go potty. And her diaper was still dry! We were outside quite a bit and all 3 accidents happened outside. Must be the fresh air.

St. Patty's Day

As promised...here are pictures from our Green Day. I know you were on the edge of your seat with anticipation all day!

You would have thought it was Christmas morning in our house...I woke up to Syd and Kay peering over my bed saying, "Is it St. Patrick's Day, Mommy?" We got up and Sydney pinched me because my jammies were black. So I put on a green necklace and we headed downstairs for our Green Eggs and Ham. I know there's nothing Irish about this, but it's what my mom did for me growing up....we read the book and ate green eggs and ham. Anyway...enjoy the pictures!

My little leprachans

Do you think Kayleigh said, "Hey Syd...kiss me, I'm Irish!"?

For lunch we had green mac and cheese and kiwi

Sydney wanted to use her green siggy at naptime!

Our snack...I considered green beans and peas, but didn't think it would go over well.

Little lassie, Kayleigh...

Because I tend to go overboard...here's our "green party" decorations

Our dinner....chicken and broccoli casserole with green rice

Our giant shamrock cookie for dessert

I'll leave you with just a couple pics of Kayleigh...

And here's a picture Kayleigh took of me

Winter Camping

Much to Sydney's delight, the great living room campout still took place, even though mommy was home! We had some s'mores and then then read some books before falling asleep in our sleeping bags. Here are some pictures...

Kayleigh took this one...can you believe she got all of us in? Even Newton made the picture!

FOUR

Last night was Family Night....Four Style! Since Grandma and Grandpa Redman are here, we had an early birthday party for Sydney. Our theme for the night was four (since she's turning four). Syd picked our meal...spaghetti and meatballs (we each got 4 meatballs). We had "4" shaped breadsticks. We decorated with four colors of streamers and four balloons. Grandma made placemats with 4s all over them.

And then her cake....this had nothing to do with 4 other than the four candles we put on top. She is our dinosaur lover and last year my dinosaur shaped cake was kinda sad looking. But I found this really cute "wishosaurus" candle holder on Mackinac Island back in October and it was perfect for her cake.

Anyway...here are some pictures.

Sydney got a very cool globe from Grandma and Grandpa!
