Kayaking on Fairview Lake

Last night after dinner we walked our kayak across the street to explore Fairview lake a bit. Kevin took each girl for a ride, then I took a turn.

Last Chance....

Wow...I can hardly believe that 2 weeks from tomorrow, the moving company will be here packing up our stuff. I am very thankful that we don't have to pack this time! Then they will load the truck on the 3rd and we'll close on our house on the 4th! We then have 11 days to drive west. I'm hoping it will be a fun, special time for us as a family. We plan to take our time and see as much as we can as we drive across the country.

So my goal is to have this blog private by the end of this week....if you have not contacted me yet, about wanting to stay connected, please do so ASAP.

Canoeing

After spending the afternoon at the beach with friends, we came home, ate dinner and headed out for an evening of canoeing. We went around Presque Isle...one of our favorite parks that we frequent. We just hadn't seen if from the water! The Lake was super calm so it was a great evening to do it. (Thanks MP for the canoe!)



We saw LOTS of very interesting looking "caves" in the sides of the cliffs






We watched this big ship coming in to the harbor


When we were done canoeing, I saw quite a bit of wildlife when I was walking to get the car.

Kayaking to Lake Michigan

On Saturday we drove south to the Ford River and did some kayaking. It was a beautiful day.




We saw some baby geese...


This was the mouth of the river opening up to Lake Michigan


When we found a beach on Lake Michigan, we got out for a snack and swimming.







I was brave enough to get completely wet, but Sydney and Kevin swam for quite a while. It wasn't that cold...I'm sure Lake Superior is much colder!!

Family Kayaking

We broke out the family kayak this weekend and took our first trip of 2009...we went to a fairly large lake in land from Lake Superior. We managed to stay dry and in the boat so I guess it was successful!

PADDLING

Well, the rain stopped and we got some paddling in after all. I was not so enthusiastic about going out again...I had just showered and unpacked from camping when Kevin and Sydney found a new place to explore on the map! But we packed up a lunch and went exploring.

I know, I know....I take ALOT of pictures...but with kids as cute as mine, how can you blame me?

Perfect Day

The ONLY thing that would have made today more perfect would have been spending it with family and/or friends! (that's Kevin in the background in his new sea kayak)
