HAPPY OCTOBER!!
This morning we went to the local Veteran's Home and I played fiddle music for the residents. The girls were so good there....
I was playing "America" and the residents started singing. It gave me goosebumps to hear the veterans singing along. I thought I would go ahead and repeat the song since they seemed to be enjoying it....so I started in on a second verse....I looked over and Kayleigh was holding my good bow (I have two and was playing with the lesser expensive bow)...so I stopped playing to get the bow out of her hands...the residents kept on singing. I started playing again...then Kayleigh came over to the music stand and proceed to pull it over....I stopped again and the residents kept on singing! That's what I call a "toddler-style concert"!
One of the residents clapped after every fiddle tune I played and said "Thank you... you are such a nice lady". So sweet!

JIll, I just love playing for the elderly. You should have given me a call. I could have added my toddlers to the mix.
ReplyDeleteTalk about gifted! To be able to pick up where they were singing ...very impressed!!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading this! I know they must have enjoyed that so much and probably even more seeing the kids get involved!
