Day 5 - Yellowstone

We had a wonderful time in Yellowstone...we could not have asked for nicer weather and we saw quite a bit of wildlife. Because we wanted to see as much as possible in only one day, we did not get to explore each area in detail. We pretty much drove the entire park (one road was closed) and tried to see a little of everything.

This was the view on the way to the park (we stayed 50 miles east the night before).

Within 30 minutes of being in the park, we saw this small grizzly bear. We got a pretty good look before a ranger arrived making everyone get in their cars!

We also saw this black bear...

And Kevin spotted this moose...

We saw many bison...both wandering alone along the roads and in big herds

This was part of the Mammoth Hot Springs area...we didn't get to explore this much

THE FALLS

GEYSERS

We spent about an hour walking around the geyser basin at Old Faithful...there are these boardwalks and many, many different geysers scattered around to look at.

This was one of the many geysers in the Old Faithful area that happened to erupt while we were walking around...Old Faithful is not the biggest geyser, it's just the most predictable erupting every 90 minutes.

OLD FAITHFUL

We had a picnic lunch and we were all a little nervous that a bear would come walking up!

  1. The thing I remember most about Yellowstone was the geysers and the clay pots. Love the pics.
