Hiking

We went exploring today...first into the city, then into the woods. We started out the day at one of Portland's farmer's markets. Then we hit a warehouse sale at an outdoor gear store. Then we drove to a nearby state park to hike. Kayleigh's been wanting a backpack for hiking and we found a used one at the warehouse sale!


I find the variety of what grows in this area to be amazing. I was calling this tree the "forest throne"




I thought this tree stump with ferns on top looked like a "hairy" tree stump!



We parked right by this fish hatchery...it was cool to see how the salmon swim upstream to the hatchery to lay their eggs.

It was so funny to watch these little salmon trying to jump up the water...they have this instinct even when they are so little.
