Halloween

We did some more exploring this weekend...this time we drove to The Dalles, about 65 miles east of us. It's a beautiful drive along the Columbia River Gorge. We checked out a winery (there are quite a few along the gorge) and took in some of the sights. We were looking for a hike, but missed the exit and by the next exit it started raining. In Hood River we saw another full rainbow - it was beautiful!

When we got home, the Durias family came over for an evening of fun and fellowship. They are a great family that we have gotten to know here. We don't really live in much of a neighborhood, so we ventured out to Fairview Village (along with hundreds of others!) for our annual trick-or-treating experience. The kids had a blast and scored lots of candy.

Even the adults got in on the costumes...

Ian was the "smallest, Asian, martial arts fighter"

Kevin was a rabbit and Mindy was a cat

I was a queen or princess (the girls requested this...See Robin, your bridesmaid's dress got yet another use!)

When we were carving our pumpkins, Kevin was describing a pumpkin he once saw that looked like it was vomiting...so when we saw this while trick-or-treating, he pointed it out to Sydney.

After trick-or-treating, we returned to our house for food and fun. We had a pinata that the kids got to hit and break open.

This guy (Aidan) really knew how to swing and broke it right open!

  3. I strongly encouraged adults to dress us for our party...Kevin came up with the bunny costume on his own. Since Syd was a bunny, he wanted to surprise her and be one too. It was all him!!

Also...I have a toy carrot from our toy food stash, but Syd wouldn't carry it. Must have been too healthy compared to all the candy she was collecting!
