

We had a break in the cloudy weather and finally had a sunny weekend day. So..we headed out to Beacon Rock for a hike. This particular rock is on the Washington side of the Columbia River in the gorge. You can actually take a trail to the top and it's a very popular hike. The pictures above are not mine...found them on line, but the pictures below are from the climb.
About 1/3 the way up, we realized this was not a great trail for the kids. Kevin is more leery of heights than I am, so he headed down with the girls and I continued to the top. Here is part of the trail looking up.
Amazingly enough, I was the only one at the summit. It's a very small area and I had it all to myself! I passed several people on the way down, so I went up at just the right time. Here are some views from the top...
