Symphony Story Time

This month, one of Portland's libraries is doing Symphony Story time... a member of the Oregon Symphony comes and tells the kids about the instrument he or she plays, and, of course, there are stories. Today a cellist came. He played for the kids and then played along with the stories - it was very cool and gave me some GREAT ideas for when I teach music for our homeschooling co-op! Then each child got to try a small cello and make their own "violin" or "cello".

After story time, we explored yet another Portland park (Laurelhurst). I look forward to walking through this park in the spring when all the rhododendrons are in bloom!

Anyone know what kind of trees these are? They are very interesting, and very lumpy!
