Central Oregon

This weekend's adventure took us to central Oregon to explore Smith Rocks State Park and the Bend area. Smith Rocks is a rock-climber's dream with over 1,000 climbs. It was a beautiful park to walk through and we had fun watching climbers and even tried a few climbs of our own. After several hours at the park, we drove further south to Bend (very cool city!) and stayed over night.

Walking by this gives you a little bit of an ominous feeling...but as long as it's all there, and not in use, then I guess it's good.

Kevin and Kayleigh climbing...

Kevin had to lead climb this, and then once he got the rope set up I climbed it. For those of you who don't know anything about rock climbing...when you lead climb you hook into bolts as you climb the rock, so if you fall, you fall to your closest bolt. Once the rope is set up from the top, you are belayed from the bottom and you won't fall down off the rock.

While exploring the Bend area, we found this state park...Tumalo State Park. We didn't get to do much as the weather worsened by the minute, but we walked around a bit.

Sydney managed to squeeze herself through this small space...I didn't see her doing it to get a picture, but found her after she had gone through.
