Mt. St. Helens

Kevin and two other guys climbed Mt. St. Helens today. They left Portland about 2 am for an early climb. This is one of the last weekends you can climb for free. That coupled with the beautiful day, they wanted to get an early start and beat the crowds. He's tired, but said it was a great experience.

Can you see Mt. Hood?

Looking down into the crater at Spirit Lake. You can see Mt. Rainier in the background.

This is how many people were going up as Kevin was coming down.

Kevin got to the top about 30 minutes before Nico and Lorenzo. It was cold, windy and a little freaky up there, so he headed down. This picture is looking back up at Nico and Lorenzo who are at the summit.

Apparently this is the second most efficient way to get down (the most efficient being to ski down).
