Tonight in our small group we were discussing ways to be carriers of the kingdom of God. One person suggested that by altering our speech, we can identify ourselves as believers. Here are a couple examples..
First...eliminating the words "lucky" or "fortunate" from our vocabulary and replacing them with blessed. The word blessed has a special connotation, doesn't it? Fellow believers will recognize it and others will notice that it's a little different.
Another example comes from Dave Ramsey...when asked how he's doing, apparantly he replies, "Better than I deserve" instead of the standard "good" or "fine". Again, this response carries the connotation that God is in control and has redeemed us.
Kevin and I were trying to come up with some other words we might use more frequently and so far the only other one I've come up with is JOY. It's harder to work into conversation regularly, but it definitely has a different feeling than happy.
Can you think of any? I'd really love your input on this.
I like this, I'll be thinking about it...
