I love these pictures...
We went for a short hike and saw these two snakes cozying up together. Can you see the two heads? One slithered away (right under Syd's foot!). When we passed them on our way out, they were coiled back up together.
Some of our views as we drove...
The Oregon Coast boasts the world's largest Sea Lion Cave and we wanted to check it out, but the cost was ridiculous. Thankfully, we saw these sea lions hanging out at the side of the river at Waldport.
We found this very cool tide pool area and beach at Seal Rock State Park. It would be a great place to play on a warm day. The tide was out and we saw some starfish and sea anemones. The girls wanted to stay and play, but it was really windy and cold.
We finally found an available yurt at South Beach State Park. This ended up being a much better state park than the other two we had tried so we were pleasantly surprised.
This morning we drove even further south to the beginning of the National Dunes Recreation Area. So much of the Oregon coast is rocky that we thought it would be fun to see the dunes. We've gotten used to the dunes in Michigan, and these were very different...not miles and miles of sand dunes, just a couple hills to go over before getting to the ocean. Still, we had lots of fun and had the beach to ourselves.
Check out the waves...they were rolling in and it was mesmerizing to watch them crashing

Kevin found this piece of something? and we made our own little playground
Ah! What a great weekend trip!! I want to move to Oregon too! This looks like so much fun! The sea lions are SO neat to see. And they just hang out on the beach?! They look a little lazy out there, but in a cute way!
ReplyDeleteThe girls look like they had a blast on the 'playground' - did you guys stay in the yurt? We would have had to camp somewhere else with the 'no dogs' sign, boo on the yurt people!
What a great weekend getaway! Was it a far drive? Such fun!!
