Dog Mountain

Today we attempted and completed our most ambitious hike so far. We crossed the Columbia River and hiked up Dog Mountain in Washington. It was a 7.5 mile loop and the girls did great! Many people hike this particular trail to see the many varieties of wildflowers blooming in spring. Although we were too early to see the lupine blooming, we saw plenty of beautiful, delicate flowers. We also saw a rattlesnake...well, Kevin did anyway. It crossed the trail and some hikers ahead of us had to stop and wait for it. They pointed out which direction it went and Kevin went down the hill to get a picture of it. Blogger isn't letting me type in between the pictures today...I put them in order so you'll see pics of our ascent, us at the summit, wildflowers and then the descent. Enjoy!
