Jill's Blog Hijacked

Jill made it to Peru. She was supposed to text me when she got in last night (12am PST) but she didn't. So I spent from 2am-3am trying to see if her plane actually landed or not. It did, but her phone doesn't work. She was able to email me from a friend's phone Sunday morning.

Say a prayer for the team in Peru. Pray that the trip serves in special ways to get more children sponsored and that those on the trip will return to help stimulate American churches to get up and start addressing the needs of our brothers and sisters in the developing world.

Kevin's tip of the day: dont say you will pray for someone unless you really will, and since we all forget things like this by the end of the day, pray now. Pray with people, or for people, the minute you say you will.
I think I'll have a new tip of the day each day so stayed tuned for this extremely clever insight and free Solomon-like wisdom.

Jill has the camera so I dont have any new pictures yet (I'll get some from my phone perhaps later). So far the weekend sans Jill has been boring. For the first time in over 60 days we have a chance of rain today. No rain yet but it's cloudy, which is very rare for Portland in the summer. We will go back to the new house we bought and I will start ripping things out and fixing the hundred things that need fixing. Then maybe the kids and I will go for a hike.

How great is Jill?
I told Jill I might post on her blog. She didnt seem to care. It wasn't hard to do since she has one password for everything. Im sure she thought I would use it to try to be funny and post dumb things (and I probably will). But I also want to tell you what you (all 6 readers out there,) already know: Jill is an amazing woman.

Here is why I love Jill so much; she is organized, a hard worker, compassionate, passionate (but this blog will remain family-friendly), she is a great mom, she is fit (I think she exercises more for me than for her own enjoyment sometimes - I try to return the favor but I think she can outrun me now). Jill has grown in her Christian walk significantly in the past 2 years and she has helped and encouraged others. It's been neat to see her tastes and preferences change as she matures in her faith. Her desire for simplicity is what I think she is best known for. She is my best friend. I cant imagine life without her and I can honestly say that I love her more now than I ever did. I never worry about her flirting with other men, she is faithful and trustworthy, this is what every man wants.
Jill used to put up with me dragging her on rock-climbing trips, hikes, camping, etc. Now she likes that stuff as much as I do.

We've explored so many states and places. Sometimes I think we've already accumulated more poignant memories than people three times our age (wait, we're old, so three times our age would be dead, let's say 2 times our age). She is the best. It's her birthday in 2 days and she's very far away. But we'll celebrate when she gets back. She didnt want any gifts this year (and Im sure if the kids and I buy her anything she will want to return it after having visited Compassion projects). So we'll show our love in other ways. I hope she reads this so that she is thoroughly embarrassed, Im ok with that :)

Here's a picture from 2006. Why 2006? Because it's my blog now and Jill is 4883 miles away.

  1. What a wonderful tribute to Jill! You definitely are blessed to have her as your wife & best friend. She is also blessed to have a man who is not afraid to let everyone know how much he loves & appreciates his wife. Your daughters are witnessing a Christian marriage from the best example - their parents.
We're looking forward to your wise tips each day! Who knows - by the time Jill comes home - you may want to start your own blog!!
We ARE definitely praying for her many times a day.
    Love, Dad & Lin
