Happy Birthday Jill!
(Ok Im doing these Blogs out of order, her birthday was yesterday, the 24th).
Here is the cake we made you. Sorry, we ate it all.

Thursday, 4 more days to go!
To prove I follow my own tips, here is a picture of me in my office. White socks always.

Here is a picture Kayleigh drew for Mom:

Tip of the day (and memory of the day): In the 70s and 80s waterproof boots had apparently not been invented. Instead boots were lined with thick felt inserts that had the insulation capacity of a trout, pulled out every time you took your foot out of the boot, and absorbed water like a sponge. So my mom saved the plastic bags that bread came in and we would wear those over our socks as an 'outer sock'. I thought it was ingenious! It worked! Downside: (I didnt realize every kid's mom didnt do this) when you take off your boots at school all the kids will point at you and laugh at the idiot with Wonder Bread bags on his feet.
This is a picture of another superb use of bread bags, making a rabbit. Who wouldn't want one of these? (If only I could find one before the artist dies and the prices skyrocket.)

Random Pics:

Obscure Jill hair photo of the day:
This was the period in her life when she wanted to look older...like 30 years older. I think she also took up dominoes and canasta during this time.

It seems the curtain dress photo was popular among the many readers of this famous blog. So I will give it some more exposure. I bet you didnt think the back was this sexy! Wow, that's one hot Pole (even the person in the picture has a blindfold because he cant handle the erotic force of that garment).
Kevin, you are merciless! Dad E.
ReplyDeleteKevin,
ReplyDeleteWe didn't think you had all this "wit" inside just waiting to lavish it upon poor Jill when she is so far away. You certainly give us a good laugh with the way you write. Have you thought of taking up comedy writing in your retirement years? And that Wonder Bread Bunny - hmmm - you definitely are bored without Jill around if you're searching out obscure pictures like that! What happened to Narnia week - any photos?
Seriously, we are so impressed with Jill's passion for this mission and awed by the photos & entries she has posted. Looking forward to your entries from Haiti. Love & hugs to the girls,
Dad & Lin
Kevin, I am dying
ReplyDeleteYou are the best!!!!
love the white socks
The humor is great! Sorry Jill, but he is funny and I love the comments with the obscure hair photos!
ReplyDeleteKevin, I'm so proud that you remember the bread bag trick! It WAS very ingenious, wasn't it? But I guess between the wonder bread bags & white socks, the kids in your class must have thought you were a real trend-setter!
ReplyDeleteIncidentially, when we visit next week, can we play canasta??
By the way, I forgot to mention, I have many photos of your mullet hair days and also a few choice Star Wars phase ones too. So Jill, if you need some back-up when you get home, I can help you out!
ReplyDeleteWow. I'll side step the white socks, but the domino game - BEST EVER! Maybe you guys didn't play Mexican Train... oh if we only lived closer... pizza and domino night, complete with a baby in tow! ;) Come home soon Jill - Kevin is thoroughly enjoying the hair pictures!!!
