Birthday Boy and Wood Floors

Here are a couple pictures of the birthday party we had this week. Nothing says happy birthday like a can of PBR and a cake with toys stuck on top! The girls wanted to do a campsite cake and this is what they came up with. (Yes, I washed the toys before we put them on the cake).

Over the weekend we, mostly Kevin, put in new wood floors in the new house. There was wood flooring in the kitchen and dining area, so we tried to match it. You can tell where the new flooring begins, but with furniture it won't be so noticeable. Also notice the new look we've given to the fireplace. Here is what it looked like before...

And this is what it looks like now. It was hard work, but isn't it beautiful? Kevin ripped off the top of the fireplace with the mirror and I painted the rest of it chocolate brown. Much better than the white if you ask me!

Today we got our appliances delivered and installed. We have been taking stuff over all week and slowly unpacking. This is the fifth move in 6 years and I'm worn out. I'll be glad when this is all over and we can concentrate on school and life.

  2. okay, Kevin looks more and more like Dad when he gets his picture taken!
Love the floors - one of our projects here in the next few years is to have the downstairs floors sanded and finished. Right now they are painted and covered with yucky wall to wall carpet. Yours look great!
God bless the rest of the moving. Hope it goes smoothly and you can rest and feel at home soon.

The floor looks beautiful - what a nice job you did! It's a really nice room.
We'll be praying that the move goes smoothly - I don't blame you for being worn out.
    love you!

  4. What a perfect Kevin cake! The floors are beautiful - looks like hard work. We have a spot in the closet that we need to replace (yes, already!) due to a little kitty accident.
