Chinidere Mountain

We went on a beautiful hike to the summit of Chinidere Mountain today. (Do click on that link for more pictures and information) Getting there was quite a haul. It took us 2 hours to drive there, but it was worth it! It seems we've done all the hikes near us and now we are having to drive farther for our weekend adventures.

The hike itself wasn't all that spectacular. The trail is so far off the main road that we expected to pull into an empty or almost empty parking lot. We were surprised to see an overflowing parking lot with many, many cars. There are quite a few walk-in campsites around the lake, and we think it's a popular place to camp. There are also quite a few different trails to hike here.

After going down to the lake , we hiked the Pacific Crest Trail for a while, and then veered off to hike to the summit of Chinidere Mountain. It was a beautiful, clear, sunny day and from the summit you could see 5 snow capped mountain peaks - a rare sight!

Mt. Hood (and to the right you could see Mt. Jefferson)

To the left is Mt. Rainier and to the right is Mt. Adams (both in Washington). To the far left, not in this picture, was Mt. St. Helen's.

At this point my camera battery died. I took some pictures with Kevin's phone and will have to post those tomorrow (the cord I need to do this is in his office at work!).

What did you do this weekend? Any adventures?
