Kayleigh's Special Day

For Kayleigh's special day we headed to the zoo. I didn't take too many pictures there, as we've been twice before, but I did take a few. Here are the girls at the entrance to Africa...

We walked all the way back to the elephants first. Usually we save this for the end, but then get too tired to walk back to see them. So today we headed to the back of the zoo first! We got to see this very cute baby elephant.

And the polar bear was nicely posed for us

Sydney was especially excited to see the Lorikeet birds. You can feed them nectar juice, but they weren't very cooperative today. A couple birds did finally drink out of the girls' cups.

And the girls wanted their pictures taken on the tractor...

When we got home, we noticed this nice surprise on our front porch. Mike and Vicki, friends from church, left balloons, a tiara and a frog for Miss Kayleigh. They were over for dinner last week and saw all the frogs the girls had caught in our yard.

Then it was time to make the cake. We've started a new tradition in our family. If it's your birthday, you get to decorate your cake! Kayleigh wanted a princess cake (of course). She wanted to put her "hard princesses" on top. (Hard princesses are the ones that aren't flexible)

And another tradition in our family is that you get to pick what or where you want to eat dinner. Kayleigh wanted to go to the "balloon restaurant". Remember the Ariel and snake balloons? We headed back to Chevy's because the balloon guy is there (and kids eat free) on Tuesday nights. For her birthday, she picked a crown!

When we finally got home it was time for cake and presents. I love her expression in these pictures - especially the second one. Can you tell she loved her cake?

Daddy made Kay a bow and arrow so she can play "Susan" from Narnia. We looked at toy sets, but they all got awful reviews. Kevin, being ever so resourceful and handy, made her a set that is perfect. So here is daddy and his princess...

And she also got some pretty neat dresses and shoes. She got the Ariel costume from us and the Belle costume from Grandma Hall. The sparkly shoes came from Grandma Redman. It's a good thing her birthday is just before Halloween and these dresses are in abundance!

Here are a couple final pictures of the birthday girl. Thanks to every one who sent well wishes! We have so many princess cards, sets, books, dresses, etc.
