Taste Test and Pumpkin Paint

Today our homeschooling journey took us on a taste testing adventure. The book we are reading and studying this week is Lentil by Robert McCloskey. In the book, one of the characters eats a lemon and causes a stir. I'll let you read the book to discover the plot, but we decided to put our taste buds to work.

For salty we tasted pretzels and chips. For sweet we tasted candy. For bitter we tasted cold coffee. And for sour we tasted...a lemon!

Neither girl thought much of the coffee.

And the lemon....Sydney made many funny faces and Kayleigh proceeded to walk around sucking on lemon slices all morning (after the candy was gone).

Painting Pumpkins....Grandpa and Grandma Foley did this with the girls last year and we all wanted to repeat this fun activity.
