We got a call from Compassion earlier this week. Normally these calls catch me off guard, but I was prepared for this one. A couple months ago, we had received a letter from Mekdes in Ethiopia. She told us she had graduated and was looking for a job. She stayed in Compassion's program for a couple more months, but she lives an hour away and it was getting to be too much for her to travel and look for a job.

Our relationship with Mekdes began a couple years ago when I began corresponding with her. Her sponsor pulled their financial support and we were given the opportunity to officially become her sponsors. I love writing to the older children - seeing how quickly the relationship can develop. Mekdes was a joy to write to. Through the Compassion program and her local church, she accepted Christ as her Savior and has used her skills and talents in her church. We will continue to pray for Mekdes - specifically that she finds employment as a history teacher.
And now I want to introduce you to Melkizedeki from Tanzania...

Melkizedeki turned 10 years old on December 13 and is one of eight children. If you have room in your family to love, nurture and pray for this child, please consider becoming his sponsor. Simply leave me a comment or shoot me an email.
