Coastal Sun

Originally our intentions were to camp in a yurt along the coast, but there were none available. Apparently several others saw the weather forecast and had the same idea. Our next idea was to head toward the coast and hike, but then we read the description of the hike and learned it was mostly shaded and forest. So we decided to spend most of our day walking along the beach.

It was beautiful - sunny and in the high 40s/low 50s

Waves were rolling in bringing to shore foam that was fun to walk through.

We found a nice secluded section at the far end of the beach to eat our lunch and play a bit. What you don't see from this picture is that this spot turned into an island very quickly as the tide came in. Thankfully we were leaving just as the tide was coming in and we only had to walk through an inch of water to get back!

We drove a little farther north the the north-western most tip of Oregon....this is where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. Here, Kevin is teaching Sydney to skip rocks.

And Kayleigh was pretending this grass was wheat - she was picking it to make a crust for apple pie.

And if you want to feel like you were with us, here is a short movie of the waves crashing into the jetty and rolling onto the shore.
