Happy Birthday Mozart

I'm listening to a little Mozart in honor of his birthday today - it's a beautiful, sunny day and listening to Mozart seems appropriate. I'm not a music freak that celebrates composer's birthday....the only reason I know today is Mozart's birthday is because it also happens to be my brother's birthday - he only has one more year before turning the big 4-0, which also means I'm not too far behind him. (sigh)

Anyway, back to Mozart - since I declared Mozart as our "composer of the month", it's been fun to introduce my girls to his music. Today we talked about Vienna and looked at my photos of my trip there back in 2000.

Warning....the rest of this post has LOTS of pictures of my girls. If you aren't a grandma, or don't think my kids are quite possibly the most adorable creatures on the planet, you might just want to save yourself some time and stop reading now.

We spotted these adorable spring dresses at Target last week. I've been on the lookout for longer (knees or longer) dresses and both girls liked these. Kay's has already been washed and shrunk a little...I wish they had added one more ruffle layer to add length. (Tara - can you do that for me? I was kidding, but not that I think about it...what if I bought a third dress so the material would match? Hmm...I might have myself a sewing project!)

Here the girls are sitting on the heater - I remember doing this as a kid. I loved to stand over the heating vents at our church and watch my skirt or dress fill with air!

We took advantage of the sun and beautiful weather and went for another walk. We really didn't need the jackets. I told Syd to put on pants and shoes and she came out in fleece pants and rain boots - just like Kay, she has her own distinct style.

We walked up to the park and swung on the monkey bars like moneys

and slid down the slide like serpents

Sydney was excited that she was strong enough to go across the monkey bars without help.

Now for the pictures that are not of my girls....we saw some more definite signs of spring.

We are learning about Russia this week and these nesting dolls (matryoshkas) came in handy.

These animals seem to be guarding our front door while doing a little yoga

These animals have a new home made out of dominoes

That's all I've got for you today - hope it was worth it!

  6. Teena...what's the name of that book? I'd love to see if we can get it from our library. I have another set, too, that was my mom's when she was a little girl. I used to love to play with it when I was a little girl.
