Today our homeschool co-op was honored to have Isabel Jones speak to us at chapel.
Isabel is 11 years old and is making a BIG difference in the world. Inspired by a trip to Africa when she was 9, she (and God) came up with idea of collecting shoes and sending them to kids all over the world.
Did you know that over 300 million kids around the world do not own a single pair of shoes?
Both of Isabel's parents work and travel for Compassion International and deliver many of the shoes themselves. Later this year Isabel will have the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic where she will get to personally deliver her first pair of shoes to a child living in poverty. If you want to read one of the most touching stories, please go HERE or HERE to read how she plans to deliver a special pair of red boots.
Although this started as a small idea, it has gotten BIG. Please take a moment to check out the SHOES FOR KIDS website and get to know this inspiring girl. Her mom, Patricia, also writes (she's one of my favorite Compassion bloggers) and you can find here at JONESBONES5.
I took a couple short video clips of Isabel and Patricia sharing with us this morning. Although I knew her story through her website and her mom's blog, it was so inspiring to finally meet Isabel and hear her speak her heart. God is on the move in this young lady.
I hope you will consider donating shoes to Shoes For Kids. If you don't want to pay shipping for a big box of shoes, send me money and I'll go shopping for you. I promise to buy shoes for little feet with the money! I have an eye for clearance sales and can hand deliver them (they live across the river from us).
