The Coast

Today we headed west to the coast - Cape Lookout State Park. It was a perfect day - not only was the weather wonderful (sunny and in the 60s), we hiked 1.8 miles to a beach and then explored/rested for about 3 hours. Kevin and the girls had fun looking at the tide pools, I soaked up some sun and read a book. It was so peaceful and fun.

This was the view from our hike...

If you look very closely on the left you can see the shrimp Kevin caught.

We found quite a few whole sand dollars at this beach. It was warm enough to get our feet wet at the edge of the water.

We saw this bald eagle flying, and then saw it and another eagle eating this loon. When we got too close, they flew away and we saw that what they were picking at was a dead loon.
