My Little Laura

I finally have a daughter to read Little House on the Prairie to. During school last week, we read Three Names by Patricia MacLachlan. It's the story about a boy's grandfather - how he lived on the prairie, went to school in a one room school house, etc. I decided to pull out our Little House dvds and we watched one of the first episodes where Mary and Laura first go to school.

Kayleigh was quite intrigued and so I dusted off my copy of Little House on the Prairie and we've been reading a chapter or two every night. I'm not sure she's completely following it, but it's the first read-aloud book she has really paid attention to.

And she asks me to braid her hair somedays like Laura.

I'm not very good at it yet, but I'll get better with practice.

Isn't she cute? This is so much better than Disney princesses! Here's to hoping this new fascination lasts.

  2. I love her braids and you did a good job with them, Jill. She's so sweet! I'm so glad she likes Little House- that's been a favorite around here for a long time. It is quite a deviation from Cinderella!
