We've had a weekend full of gorgeous weather (finally!) and we headed to the beach on Saturday. We went back to the place we went in April - Cape Lookout State Park. It's an ideal place for us. The hike down is 1.8 miles so we get a nice hike, and it deters crowds. We were on the beach by 11 am and it was beautiful.
There aren't as many wildflowers that grow along the coast, but it was still fun to see some.
We got there at low tide, but within two hours the tide came in. You can see from these pictures just how uncrowded it was. As we left, more and more people were starting to arrive.
I really do think Sydney is happiest when she is handling nature. She ran around these tide pools so excitedly, finding fish and hermit crabs. This is how she is in our yard, too, with frogs and salamanders. She loves to catch them and create new habitats for them.
Here is a video of a tide pool. You can see some fish swimming and if you look to the bottom left corner, you can see a hermit crab.
