Lenny and Alex

Well...it's that time again. Time for me to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and plead my case for sponsorship through Compassion.

Meet Lenny

Lenny lives in Kenya and will be turning 12 on September 26th. You may remember that I have a special place in my heart for the children in Kenya - this is where my own journey with sponsorship began 16 years ago.

Lenny loves to run ~ it's his favorite activity. He lives with his mother and father and sibling. I don't know much about Lenny, but I do know that he needs a sponsor. He needs someone who will commit to loving him, praying for him, encouraging him through letters.... And I know sponsorship works.

Last night, we had the privilege of having Alex Mutagubya, his wife Faith and their daughter Aaleyah over for dinner.

You see, Alex grew up in Uganda and at age 8 was registered into Compassion's child development sponsorship program. Because of sponsorship, he was able to complete a high school education and go into college where he was accepted into Compassion's Leadership Development Program. After completing university, he was offered the opportunity to come to Portland and pursue a master's degree in divinity at Multnomah Seminary.

In September, after their second child is born, Alex and Faith will return to Uganda and pastor a church in Kampala.

Alex was released from poverty, in Jesus name, through Compassion's sponsorship program. He has written out more of his story for me to share on Compassion Family soon.

But for now...what I want you to see is that sponsorship works. If you sponsor a child, then be encouraged that your sponsorship is making a difference. You are partnering with God, through the ministry of Compassion, to change lives. It's this partnership that I get so excited about.

God is already working through Compassion International in the lives of so many children around the world. We are invited to come alongside and partner with Him.

Lenny needs a sponsor..... Are you in?
