What a fantastic night we had! We left here at 4 pm to avoid traffic. Our good friend had come over in the afternoon so her son could have a violin lesson, then she took the girls home with her. They had so much fun, and we were thankful she was willing to watch them for 7 hours!
Anyway, we got to the concert venue early and met up with our Compassion contact. It was fun to meet some new people who work for Compassion. Compassion folks are like a big family and it's such a blessing (to me) to meet new folks who are passionate about Compassion's ministry.
We waited....and waited....and waited. We were supposed to get a few minutes before the official meet and greet. But this was the first night of the tour and things were running a bit behind. We were still first in line and although we only literally got a few minutes, it was great.
The concert itself was so good. There was no opening act, just Amy and Michael for 3 hours. The did a lot of old songs - together and alone. I love, love, love Amy.....but when Michael was playing I realized that I listen to him more regularly.
This one is blurry, but it's the best I could get (when my flash is off, a motion sensor comes on and any movement causes blurriness). This is when they were talking about Compassion - it was a great presentation.
Michael did quite a few worship songs and it was powerful. He's such a good musician, and it was amazing to hear him live. Of course they ended the concert with "Friends".
Getting good pictures of Michael W Smith was much harder....this is the only non-blurry one I got.
I have quite a few videos, but am having trouble loading them. Here's one...I'll try later to load some more. If I get them to load, they will post under this post, so scroll down.
That is awesome!!! (Count 'em, THREE!) I'm so happy you got to meet them and it sounds like it was a wonderful night. What a cool birthday! Happy birthday, Kevin! Love you!
