Neighborhood Walk

It's been a quiet weekend. Grandma and Grandpa Redman are here and we've not strayed too far from home all weekend. Kevin and I ran a 10k race at our church on Saturday morning and were too worn out for a hike (although Kevin ended up going hunting and hiked about 8 miles!)

Today the girls and I took Grandma for a walk around our neighborhood. I had my camera and took some photos of whatever caught my eye....

  1. What a fun weekend! 10k? WOW! I'm impressed. I remember you training last year. What kind of plant is the first picture - is it a flower?

  2. I was training last year for a 15K....I did it and then decided I was done running long distances. My hip was hurting too much. I've kept up with running 3-4 miles at a time each week and decided to give this 10K a go without training. I did it in under an hour (55:41) and ended up coming in first for women! There wasn't much competition, but it was still a nice surprise.

I don't know what the first picture is...I need to do some research. It was a big tree-like bush. The "flowers" or "berries" were really waxy and hard.

  3. I am so proud of you! (and a little jealous - I don't know if I could make it that far with no training!)
