Climbing Mt. Hood

Our friend Dave is visiting from Boston this weekend and the guys went to "play" on Mt. Hood. "Playing" by Kevin's definition is climbing.








This is the cone of Mt. Hood - where steam comes out and sulfur fills the air.







The ridge you see on the right side of the photo is called the "hogsback".










And here they are at the top of the hogsback - the place known as "bergschrund". This is where they had to turn around because the route was sheer ice. It wouldn't have been too much farther to summit - maybe an hour or so.
