While things were quiet here around the blog, things were not so quiet in our lives. We had a busy, full week. When I first began entertaining the notion of taking a week off of blogging, I imagined I would have TONS of time on my hands. After all, I do spend quite a bit of time at the computer each week.
I never really found myself with nothing to do. But as I reflect on the week, I can see quite a bit of extra stuff we did ~ which was really the whole point of this. To connect with those around me in real life.
To start the week off, the girls and I created and "Easter garden" in the back yard. It was lots of fun and we are very pleased with how it turned out. We found this old fence post thing which worked perfectly as the tomb.
We also dyed some eggs....
And made two different kinds of birds nest cookies which we distributed to our neighbors. It's such a blessing to connect with our neighbors and each was (or at least seemed) delighted to see the girls at their front door.
I have been looking for a cross for our mantel and finally just asked Kevin to make one. He had plenty wood scraps in the garage and within minutes had made this one and the one for the Easter garden. I went to the fabric store and got some purple fabric to drape over it.
And in an effort to add a more meaningful tradition to our Holy Week celebration, we had our first family Seder. It was more of a symbolic Seder which we walked through before having a regular meal. We stumbled our way through and are looking forward to being more comfortable with it next year.
Love that garden! I saw something similar to that but in a pot but that'll have to be an idea for another year. Yours looks beautiful! And your Seder table looks beautiful as well!
ReplyDeleteWe were going to put ours in a pot, but decided to just make it part of our regular garden - then it will be there every year and we can add to it.
DeleteGreat pictures!!!! Beautiful garden, it's really done well and love your table!!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous eggs - such vibrant colors! Those bird nest cookies look so cute - I would love to have sweet little girls come to my house & give those to me! Very clever use of post concrete as the tomb! Lovely garden!
