Seattle and Snow Camping

On Friday the Foley family split up and went separate ways. The girls and I headed north to Seattle, while Kevin headed up to Mt. Hood for snow camping.

I wanted to check out Pike Place Market and so we headed there before going to our hotel. It was NOT the time of day/week to go there. 4:30 on Friday tends to be a bit busy. Since I was alone with the girls, we ended up just getting a quick look and then heading back to the car. Check out the size of those lobster tails....

If I had been on my way home I would have gotten one of these gorgeous bouquets of flowers.

We didnt' do much else on Friday - once we got to our hotel we ended up hanging out there for the rest of the evening.

On Saturday we headed to one of the local churches for the Compassion advocate gathering I was attending. The girls got to play all day with one of their favorite babysitters and I had fun connecting with other Compassion advocates.

The highlight of the day was hearing from Ben Mwangi who was a sponsored child from Kenya. He grew up   in Korogocho - one of the largest slums of Nairobi. I'll be talking about him and his story a bit more this week over at Compassion Family.

While we were in sunny Seattle, Kevin was digging a snow cave near Mt. Hood with some other people from our church. They skiied in, dug a snow cave and spent the night there.

He said it was cold and wet. But I think they all had fun.

What did you do this weekend?

  2. Another weekend of adventures for the Foleys! I think I like what you & the girls did a whole lot more than what Kevin did. I can't imagine ever wanting to sleep in a snow cave! A nice warm hotel room is much more appealing! Seattle looks beautiful.
