The Garden

I realize posts like this aren't the most interesting, but I like to chronicle the journey of my garden each year. I like looking back and seeing the progress, so this post is more for me than anyone else.

I still have plenty of room to plant more in my gardens, I'm just not sure what to plant. Some of the lettuce is doing really well ~ I need to remember to eat it!

We've got a handful of strawberries that we are waiting on.

And the corn is getting taller. The broccoli is very disappointing this year. Not sure why it's so different than last year. Several of the plants produced very tiny pieces of broccoli and have already started flowering. And a couple plants are just dying off.

The newest garden bed is amazing. Lining the back of it are the sunflowers we planted from last year's seeds. The tomato plants grow several inches a day, and the zucchini plants are crazy big already.

The herb garden is lovely. It's so nice to go out and get fresh herbs to add to dishes. Last night I used both dill and basil.

My flowers are growing quite nicely. I seem to add to this garden regularly and it's fun to see it coming together. It's not the most organized or well-thought out garden, but I love it.

Earlier in spring we got a bunch of foxgloves from our pastor's woods. They are blooming quite nicely.

And my daylilies are just gorgeous! I love how full they are.

I can't get over how much this knockout rose has grown! And I'm so happy my dahlias are coming back. I can't wait until they bloom.

I love this and the color it adds to my garden.

We have a couple tiny hydrangea plants - this one is already full of blooms and the other will be soon.

And hostas - who doesn't love hostas? I have several of these in my front yard. These two are growing too close together and I need to move one of them. The one was so late coming up that I thought it wasn't coming back this year, so I planted another one there! Then this one started coming in. I love how hardy these are and how you can move them, split them, do whatever to them and they almost always survive.

How's your garden growing this year?

  3. I love seeing the garden! It looks great! Yep, hosts are indestructible so we're big fans :) And I don't know what to do with all the lettuce we have either! Wish it was something that would freeze!
