I love my life.
I love where I live.
I love that we can drive an hour east and be in the Cascade mountains.
I love that we can drive an hour and a half west and be at the coast. And that's what we did on Saturday.
Although it was supposed to be sunny and partly cloudy, it was cloudy ALL DAY.
We had a two part plan to our day. Part 1 was to go crabbing and part 2 was to play in tide pools.
Kevin and the girls found this place last year when I was at a women's retreat with ladies from church. There are restrictions on what you can keep (only males and only a certain size or bigger) so what you get to take home is far less than what you catch.
We caught LOTS of crabs ~ but only two keepers.
When you decide you've had enough, you bring your catch to the boiling pots and they cook them for you.
Then you eat them.
We had trouble finding great tide pools. We drove to our favorite hike down to the beach, but there were so many people that we couldn't even park in the parking lot. So we drove back to these rocks that we had passed earlier.
This is me looking very confused or very annoyed or very something.
Although we didn't see tons of starfish, sea anenomes or other normal tide pool creatures, we still found plenty of cool things to look at.
And we ended the day with a stop at Tillamook for ice cream and cheese curds!
Oregon looks incredible. I imagine it would be a lot of fun. I'm not so sure about the crabs, but the tide pools? I'm all over that!
ReplyDeleteI love where you live, too, and I've never even been there except through your pics :) (But crabs sort of freak me out.)
