Today's adventure took us to Hood River - about 60 miles east of Portland. We love this town and go there fairly often. Chances are, if you've visited us, we've taken you to Hood River.
Anyway, Kevin had a very adventurous day. Hood River Airport was hosting a fly-in and that's exactly what Kevin did. He and our pastor, Mike, rented a plane and flew in. The girls and I drove and met them there.
Here's a shot of the river and of the beach we sailed to last Monday.
There were a lot of planes at the fly-in. Kevin recognized this plane as the same one his grandpa was photographed in front of (we have a copy of the photo). Kevin wanted to try to re-enact the photo, but didn't think the owner would want him standing on the wing.
This plane was really cool. The care-taker offered to take the girls inside and let them peek out the pilot's window.
And this is Mike looking out the window.
As you can tell, it was a gorgeous day. On the way back to Troutdale, Kevin and Mike flew around Mt. Hood. It's quite rare to see Mt. Hood from this view and with this little snow on it. Kevin got some amazing photos.....
And this is a cool view of what the fields around Sandy look like....doesn't it look like a quilt?
Now those are the 2 cutest "pilots" I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteGreat aerial shots of Mt. Hood.
Love the landscape "quilt".
Wow! beautiful pictures!!! Loved all the pics!!! the quilt is beautiful loved the girls! Did Kevin like it better than the helicopter`?
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing opportunity to fly to Hood River! I can see it now, Kevin will be getting his pilot's license soon - his next new hobby! What gorgeous photos of Mt Hood & the quilt field! How cool that Kevin saw a plane just like the one in Grandpa's photo - I wish he could have replicated the pose! I agree with Grandma Lin - the cutest pilots ever!
