We didn't have any grand, wild adventures this weekend. Instead, we spent some time at home, attended a wedding reception, ran some errands, went for a family run, did some yard work, went to church and "hiked" in the city.
Kayleigh helped me decorate our front porch to make it look autumny.
At church I got this beautiful bouquet of flowers from my secret sister. Made my day!
After church we wanted to go for a hike, but it was so windy where we live. It tends to be windier east of the city, so we headed west....into the city. There is a huge park in Portland called Forest Park. It's over 5,000 acres and has quite a network of trails. We've only been there once before and decided to hike up to Pittock Mansion.
This is not the mansion....these are just some ruins along the trail.
This is the mansion. It was beautiful and sits on a piece of property that overlooks the city. Because of the forest fires, the sky is pretty hazy so I didn't take any photos of the view.
We didn't tour the inside...just walked around the gardens.
One of the things I love most about Oregon are the trees. The trees that grow here are so grand - so diverse - so beautiful.
And because I just can't help it, I took lots of flower photos. The gardens were still so beautiful and full of color....even in October.
On our way back down the trail the girls tested their bravery and walked the length of this very long, fallen down tree. I'm using the zoom lens in these pictures so you can't fully appreciate how long this tree was!
It was shortly after 3pm when we finished our "hike" and Kevin asked if there was anywhere I wanted to go in the city. I half-jokingly said I would love to find the Sisters Coffee shop that is located in the Pearl district. I love the Sisters Coffee shop in Sisters and recently found out they had a shop in Portland. Not being a coffee drinker, Kevin kind of shook his head. When we drove into the Pearl and parked, I noticed we were across the street from.....
So I went in and got a delicious cup of coffee. I'm not a coffee snob, but I really, really like Sisters coffee. It's really good. And yesterday I had the vanilla hazelnut which was really tasty.
That's all. What did you do this weekend?
I craved sisters coffee!!!! That's what I did for the weekend!!!!! :)
