This post is mostly for my mom - who keeps asking to see photos of my garden. Last week the girls and I went to our new church property and got as many rocks as we could lift. It actually wasn't that many since most of them were just too big. But it was enough. I also got a load of dirt and mulch delivered. And since we're having an early summer here, I spent a good 3 days playing in the yard!
I took all the photos before I put new mulch in the gardens, and now I'm too lazy to go out there and take new photos.
Here's what the side of my front yard looked like before I started playing....
And here it is with some rocks and new plants
| this looks much better with mulch....I have a few peony plants to add, so when I do I'll take another photo |
I call this my "Africa" rock because it's shape somewhat resembles Africa.
Moving on to the girls' garden. They have claimed this space under this tree and it's shaded all day. Lucky for them, they really like pansies! I had some pansies in the front that needed more shade, so we moved them back here. They wanted the cross from our Easter garden in their garden so everyone knows they love Jesus. How could I say no?
Sydney also created this little raised garden where she planted some seeds and some succulents. This is in the sun so it should do well.
And we found a shade loving hanging basket to hang from the tree.
The main reason I wanted rocks was to add some interest to my garden. I thought I would build some half circles that would allow some plants to be a bit taller than the others in the garden. I'm pleased with how it looks. I would have done more, but didn't have any more rocks. And it turns out I had just enough dirt to fill the areas I built up.
I had quite a few big, flat rocks that I just laid flat throughout the garden. We found some succulents on clearance at Lowe's, so I planted them around the rocks.
I love my hanging basket and my pot - purple is my favorite color. I can see both of these when I stand at my kitchen sink and look out! The hanging basket was put together, but I did the pot myself.
| this is the pot I put together for our church entrance |
And new to my vegetable garden this year is this trellis. I'm hoping my cucumbers grow up and over it and provide some shade for my lettuce. For now I have a blanket hanging over it to keep the lettuce from getting too hot since it's been in the mid 80s here.
Also new is this arch between the two raised beds. I'm hoping to grow beans on it. And I also have a clematis to grow up it.
And these are just some beauties from my garden....
I LOVE IT ALL !!!!!
